Nixie Bolero

Few pieces in Annie's collection carry as much meaning as the Nixie Bolero. Born from Annie's deep love of her Prussian grandfather's homeland, where personal history becomes wearable art.

Nixie is a name deeply rooted in Prussian and Germanic folklore,  a water spirit, mysterious and enchanting, tied to the natural world and the stories passed down through generations.

Every inch is beaded by hand in over 40 individual colours, creating the kaleidoscopic effect found in authentic Prussian and Slavic folk tradition, where every flower, vine, and leaf carries its own distinct hue. The mirrored, structured placement of the floral motifs draws from the sacred "Life Tree" and "Star" patterns of Eastern European beadwork, historically stitched into garments believed to be a form of protection for the wearer.

This bolero frames the body featuring a high-neck collar and structured shoulders which lend a regal, almost ceremonial quality. Long hand beaded fringing falls from the shoulders to create movement and dimension.
