El Dorado Dress

The El Dorado Mini Dress is inspired by two parallel histories in which ornament functioned as authority: the ceremonial traje de luces worn by 18th-century Spanish matadors, and the myth of El Dorado, a legend shaped by European ideas of gold, conquest and spectacle.

Meticulously hand-embroidered with jewel-like beadwork, the surface draws on the ornate geometry of historic traje de luces jackets. A shimmering lattice of embellishment contours the body, creating structure, depth and luminosity. The beads are arranged in a structured pattern that creates texture, subtle movement and a sculpted effect on the body. Gold thread work is used throughout the embroidery to define the pattern and add structure to the surface.

The corseted bodice is internally boned and fitted with hip padding to enhance the silhouette, balancing ornament with architectural precision. Crafted in supple stretch crepe de chine and lined in cotton, the dress combines intricate craftsmanship with considered wearability.
